SSO Login via Okta and HacWare

HacWare users have the ability to configure a default Identity Provider to power Single Sign On (SSO). This article details how to configure Okta as the primary Identity Provider to facilitate SSO with the HacWare partner application.

Supported Features

  • Service Provider (SP)-Initiated Authentication (SSO) Flow - This authentication flow occurs when the user attempts to log in to the application from HacWare.

  • Identity Provider (IDP)-Initiated Authentication (SSO) Flow - This authentication flow occurs when the user attempts to log in to HacWare from Okta.

Requirements

In order to proceed with configuring login with SSO through Okta, you must:

  • Have access to an Okta tenant

  • Be an Okta administrator to that tenant

  • Be an existing HacWare partner. If you do not have a partner account you can apply for one here: https://www.hacware.com/msp.html#partner-app

Configuration Steps

You will need to provide your Okta credentials to HacWare. This is done in HacWare’s partner portal. You can login here: https://www.hacware.com/api/auth/partner-login/.

Once you have logged in you will see the Integration menu item on the left hand side of the screen.

Once you click Integration, you will see the following choices. Please select the Okta option.

Next, select the Edit button.

You will then see a pop-up form on the screen:

Fill out the form with the following information:

  1. In the Okta dashboard, navigate to Applications and select the Applications sub-menu.

  2. Click on Browse App Catalog and search for ‘HacWare’ to add this application.

  3. In the Sign On tab copy your Client ID and paste it into the first field in the Okta Integration form.

  4. In the Sign On tab copy your Okta Secret and paste it into the second field in the form.

  5. On the Sign On tab, there will be a link to your OpenID Provider Metadata. Click that link and it will display your metadata. From the metadata, copy and paste your issuer URL into the URL field in the form.

  6. Lastly, click Save, and your credentials will be saved. You may edit/update them at any time.

SP-initiated SSO

  1. Visit this URL: HacWare Okta SSO.

  2. Use the third login option and enter your email address and click Sign in with Okta.

  3. If you are prompted for your Okta username and password, enter them.

  4. If the credentials entered in step 3 are valid, you will be redirected to HacWare and will be logged into your HacWare dashboard.
